Music: Jazz Sabbath?!?!

A new find, Jazz Sabbath bends genre's melding the genius of Ozzy and Tony Iommi into a small jazz combo, providing ample room for tonal exploration.

Music: Jazz Sabbath?!?!

I wake up (way too) early, and my custom is to slip on my Bose Quiet Comfort II headphones, and to go where my eyes and fingers take me on Youtube. Music, news, podcasts, whatever. But there is almost always some music that is in the mix.

This morning I saw some brand new Halocene, and a classic video of the Rush anthem La Villa Strangiato.

Then this flew by my feed. Jazz Sabbath? A jazz trio, pianist, standing bass and a drummer.

The title was "War Pigs". Well, you know what I did, right? I mashed that tile and BOOM, I find myself immersed in an etherial adaptation of that Black Sabbath iconic tune. Instead of Ozzy's droning vocals, it is an airy expansion of the themes and melodies from the song. It captures the essence of the classic era of Black Sabbath, one of the progenitors of the Heavy Metal revolution, fused with just amazing audible candy.

Give this a listen, and let me know what you think:

So much joy from just three blokes on a stage.

(I subbed and also went to Bandcamp and bought their discography for about fifty bucks)
