- Description: The posts from the week of September 26 through October 3. We are going to do a deep and LONG series on the sainted one of the right, Ronnie Reagan.

Last week was a thin posting week, and I had some bleak thoughts about mothballing the Sweaty Spice experiment.

Then, doing some clean up on a folder that I just used as a bit-bucket for nuggets and research.

Circa 2016, when I was watching the homeless aborted fetus that was Donald Trump crawl up the leg of America, I began trying to understand how this clownish buffoon was going to win, and everything I looked at traced back to the patron saint of the Republican Right, Ronnie Reagan.

I opened a file, and just copy-pasta'd shit I found there, and one day I intended to get back to it (and let me tell you, there is so much fuckery that circled around Reagan that it was what we call a "target-rich environment".

This last week, I resurrected the file, and began fleshing it out.

This is going to be a huge arc, broken into three "books" one on the "Acting" phase of Reagan's life (those posts are all written and scheduled, 6 in total), and now I am working on the second book, Reagan's time in political life, the period from the Governorship of California, through the interregnum between the governorship and his election to President, and until he left office in 1989\. These are not written yet, just being sketched out, but I think it might run to 9 to 12 posts.

And finally, I will do a dig into the post office period and the canonization and beatification of Saint Reagan.

Let's get this party started:

**Sunday, September 27:** Introducing the coming series. This is how Reagan is the fulcrum for the lever that the right has used to essentially take unfettered control of politics. I get a little spicy in it:

[New Series - Reagan as the FulcrumIntroducing a dive into the Reagan mythos. THe good, the bad, and the downright ugly. Three acts, from his acting days, through his performance of a lifetime, to the canonization and saint hood. **Monday, September 28:** Book 1, Episode 1, Reagan had an interesting early life, but he failed to really make the jump to stardom. That didn't really hamper him though, and it provided grist that he would leverage later.

[The Actor Who Wasn’t Quite a StarA lifeguard chair, a dead wire, a line about losing your legs that became his memoir’s title. The making of Ronald Reagan starts long before anyone was watching.![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/11/f5/11f5bb9f-30c4-445e-afa3-85a47d260f6e/content/images/icon/ChatGPT-Image-Feb-21--2026-at-11_59_50-AM-8745f5d2-ce8d-4ed8-897a-a11f9470bf11.png)Sweaty's CornerGeoff Anderson![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/11/f5/11f5bb9f-30c4-445e-afa3-85a47d260f6e/content/images/thumbnail/sweaty-the-actor-I-c72dda83-e5c1-493f-8c8d-8c15d0b9dae2.png)](https://www.sweatyspice.com/the-actor-who-wasnt-quite-a-star-b1-e1/)

**Wednesday, September 30:** Book 1, Episode 2, Reagan was very liberal before he flipped. How liberal? Like full fucking New Deal. Let's plumb those depths...

[The Liberal Anti-CommunistBefore the conservative, before the Republican, there was a man whose father got his job from Roosevelt’s own patronage machine. That part never really left him.![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/11/f5/11f5bb9f-30c4-445e-afa3-85a47d260f6e/content/images/icon/ChatGPT-Image-Feb-21--2026-at-11_59_50-AM-2be36a00-f2ee-4083-8737-e075d0184213.png)Sweaty's CornerGeoff Anderson![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/11/f5/11f5bb9f-30c4-445e-afa3-85a47d260f6e/content/images/thumbnail/sweaty-the-actor-hearing-d0318e0d-2aa0-4ac1-9e7a-76cc200aab99.png)](https://www.sweatyspice.com/the-liberal-anti-communist-b1-e2/)

**Friday, October 2:** (oops, this went out before I added Friday's post). Early 1950's, Reagan's B-film Errol Flynn run has run out, and in 1954 he lands a plum gig as host of a weekly TV show, General Electric's "Theater", a subtle propaganda series to whitewash how the Capital class is really good for everyone. He got a taste of public persuasion, and he was manipulated by the executive team at GE.

[Selling General Electric$125,000 a year, in 1954, to host a TV show. The agency that arranged it owed its whole television business to a waiver he signed himself.![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/11/f5/11f5bb9f-30c4-445e-afa3-85a47d260f6e/content/images/icon/ChatGPT-Image-Feb-21--2026-at-11_59_50-AM-67450d96-6a94-452f-b236-b7580f141a70.png)Sweaty's CornerGeoff Anderson![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/11/f5/11f5bb9f-30c4-445e-afa3-85a47d260f6e/content/images/thumbnail/sweaty-the-actor-III-36e2c88a-1781-4c2e-8add-c168e9889091.png)](https://www.sweatyspice.com/selling-general-electric-b1-e3/)
