A Family Affair: The Warning
The rabbit warren of Youtube recommendations delivers a solid gold winner, and my music collection expands.
If you’ve been a reader for a while, you are no doubt aware of my penchant for women who play guitar. Look, for far too long, the general “rock” and “metal” scene has been a major sausage fest, and there is no reason for this.
I also support them by buying their CD’s or vinyl, putting some money in their pockets, even though I mostly listen to them via streaming services (my last music related post was a Mary Spender vid, if you look her up, she has made videos explaining how little is paid to her from platforms like Spotify.)
To find these killer ladies, I use Youtube. And their algorithm often surfaces many great candidates.
Lately, in their little “shorts” categories, they have been tossing up this bass player, Alejandra Villareal. And damn, this young lady can play.
So, I learned that she is part of a Mexican trio called “The Warning”, and their break out was when they were young (Alejandra was 9 in the video below, wow) and they covered Enter Sandman. Did I mention that they are sisters? Yeah, talk about something in the water…
How it started:
That was 2013. What a voice. And three sisters?
Where it is now:
Straight into my veins. I just pre-ordered their coming release “Keep me Fed” on vinyl.
Tell me what you think.
Fantastic😈🤘🏼On my playlist now! Thank you😘
WHAT DO I THINK??? Holy shit! I love this. Excellent. I really appreciate you sharing your music. 👍
