Fuck Ezra Klein, and fuck the NY Times
If they didn't still do really good deep reporting, I would be fucking gone. Even their "Liberal" Opinion staff licks balls at this point.
If I thought yesterday was bad, the fuckwads at the Grey Lady are again at it.
I was never an Ezra Klein fan, he was always a bit to smarmy and progressive, but when he joined the Times, I noticed that he became a bit more high-brow, but his takes still suck.
A couple of weeks ago, he got all the Never Trump crowd all aroused when he bluntly said that Biden needed to drop out, and make way (at least he thinks that the likely replacement would be Newsom, but the Never Trump cohort all prefer Whitmer or Shapiro) for new blood.
That was pretty fucked up, and he got rightly roasted.
Then, in the aftermath of the SOTU address, he has this mess of hot garbage:
(gifted link: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/10/opinion/biden-state-union-message.html?unlocked_article_code=1.b00.MP3-.WdWjQg1SoqUc&smid=url-share)
Look at his lede:
If the Joe Biden who showed up to deliver the State of the Union address last week is the Joe Biden who shows up for the rest of the campaign, you’re not going to have any more of those weak-kneed pundits suggesting he’s not up to running for re-election. Here’s hoping he does.
But that’s not the only thing from Thursday night that I hope Biden holds onto. So far, the Biden team has been more sure-footed attacking Donald Trump’s threat to democracy than it has been defending Biden’s incumbency. That reflects a strange problem they face. By virtually any measure save food prices, Biden is presiding over a strong economy — stronger, by far, than most peer countries. As Noah Smith has noted, the Biden economy looks far better than Ronald Reagan’s “Morning in America”: Unemployment is lower, inflation is lower, interest rates are lower, stock market returns are better.
But Americans feel otherwise. The most recent Times/Siena poll found that 74 percent of registered voters rated the economy either “poor” or “fair.” By a 15-point margin, voters said Trump’s policies helped them personally. By a 25-point margin, they said Biden’s policies hurt them personally.
My Dude, you have possibly the BEST FUCKING perch in the world to get the message out, to change hearts and minds, and you still fucking equivocate.
At this juncture, I can’t tell if it is the shit editors at the Times, or just the wank-stain that is Ezra that is so shitty, but honestly, he should just go fuck right off.
The NYT can suck sweaty balls--they no longer hold any credibility as a viable MSM news source.
Ezra Klein’s neck could suffer a whiplash injury from a pivot like that.
Illustrative question to Ezra Klein re polls’ value:
Who did the NYT and/or Sienna polls taken just before Election Day 2016, predict would win that POTUS election? Hillary Clinton? Or TFG?
And Joe Biden did NOT make a theatrical or pugilistic “comeback.” It was no quirk that Joe OWNED that chamber during his SOTU. The scheduled SOTU gave him the opportunity to step away from the Resolute Desk long enough to demonstrate what he is CURRENTLY made of. He demonstrated he was the most capable person in the room to operate our government.
