Just got paid
Ok, not really, but a $100 spot bonus will expand my collection of classic TV shows on my Plex server
A few months ago, I got notified that I had received a spot bonus as an “atta-boy” for a ton of work I did to help prepare a new internal system for launch.
I had forgotten about it until Wednesday, when I stumbled across it in my inbox.
I really should clean out my inbox more frequently…
Anyhow, what should I spend this on? Naturally, I took it as an Amazon gift card, and went shopping.
And what fell into my cart but the entire set of Perry Mason. 72 CD’s are inbound, to be ripped, categorized, and uploaded to my Plex server.
Who was Perry Mason?
Perry Mason was a fictional character created by Erle Stanley Gardner, and was one of the centerpieces of 1950’s television, a weekly dramatic show that has left deep imprints upon the canon of modern storytelling. Hell, during the Alex Jones trial when the opposing counsel revealed that Jones’ lawyers sent full backups of Jones’ devices, proving that they had hidden fucktons of incriminating evidence to the prosecutors, ensuring his loss. This was termed a “Perry Mason Moment”.
While the set hasn’t arrived yet, it will be here soon, and then it will take a lot of time to rip 72 DVD’s, but then I will begin watching the episodes, reliving some of the earliest TV I remember watching when I was growing up.
Closing
My collection of my favorite TV shows continues. I have added The Rockford Files, Mission Impossible, The Avengers, and now Perry Mason will take its place in the collection.
Next up will be the quirky Get Smart.
