Music: Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush
A stellar interpretation of a Jimi Hendrix staple, Frank does it justice, and delivers a sultry performance with elan.
I am on my work laptop, and for grins, I fired up Apple Music, where I have a playlist titled “Daily Grind”.
This playlist started life in the early 2000’s and I have been adding to it, augmenting and expanding it ever since.
However, now that I mostly stream either via Amazon Music, or Youtube Music, it has lain fallow for quite some time.
When I say I fired it up, it is probably the first time I started that playlist in at least 6 years.
Which brings me to the song I am sharing today. A LONG time ago, I bought a double live Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush live CD, and on it is a smokin’ rendition of the Hendrix classic Red House. About twelve minutes of Frank’s playing, and man does he make that Gibson SG sing.
If you are a player and have spent any time with any vintage SG, you will know that they are devilish to keep even remotely in tune. The fact that Frank can just belt this out, make it his own, and not have to fiddle-faddle with the tuning mid song is a testament to his mad skills.
I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane!
👏👏👏👏 Adding this and more to my playlists. What would I do without you! 😂
