In general, I hate our algorithmic overlords, the weenie mathematicians who craft these black boxes that decide what to surface to you, designed to enhance the release of endorphins and juice your mood to watch or listen to more.
All true. But in my quest to unearth the tastiest music for my adoring fans has tuned Youtube’s algos to a pretty fine degree.
This morning, the gods of the algorithms surfaced a Brazilian artist doing a playthrough of their song Starlust, and I just had to click.
Ignore the shiny black leather pants, and if you aren’t into ink on women, keep that opinion to yourself.
Click on this, close your eyes and just enjoy her talent and skill with that guitar that has too damned many strings (it is a 7 string guitar).
It is four minutes and eight seconds of joy!
Wow, I only have three words to describe what I just listened to:

She’s quite the guitarist! I personally know quite a few good players and some of them are in local bands! They would be blown away by her talent!
Holy *#@$!: what a cool breeze in my brain this gave me first thing in the morning! Thank you so much for this. Wow. This level of virtuosity for any human is stunning. My favorite part is that she is a young woman that is not having to prance in high heels, she is not showing major boobage, she is not plastered with de rigeur war paint, she is not grinning and leering at the camera, her eyes are not even open if she doesn't want them to be, and I absolutely love all that. As a woman myself it's so refreshing. Earlier in my life I would have imagined some producer insisting that she do those things that have nothing to do with being immensely talented, to fit her into a mold and risk being intimidating to any onlooking fragile men. So, I appreciate this moment personally as a landmark of sorts that it's possible for a musician to just be awesome and not have to teeter in heels and grin for permission to shine, if you don't want to. ROCK ON!!!!
