The sultry side eye early in this video is sorta that breaking the 5th wall prelude that something unexpected is on the way.
Ladyva is a Swiss musician that brings an energy and vibe to this utterly recognizable classic, part of the progression of any young pianist building a repertoire, so it is something that just about everyone is familiar with.
Her twist though is to flip the script and do a Keith Emerson honky tonk sound, taking the music in new and exciting way.
This flip starts about a minute in, and then it grows in intensity and fun.
I love how Ladyva has breathed life into this staid melody. I subbed and will enjoy her playing.
She OWNS that Steinway and the audience!
Love it!! Thanks for sharing.
Geoff, all I can say is “WOW!” That was truly amazing; the way her fingers move over the keys (mine were cramping just watching her 😆) she is someone I would consider to be a master of her piano ❤️ and the drummer was awesome as well….you find the coolest music and I thank you for sharing
