Music: Lo-Fidelity Allstars
A convoluted tale of how a song gets added to my "Daily Grind" playlist. Today is a club-friendly song that tells a tale that is as old as time itself, yet it is catchy and infectious.
This is way outside of my normal haunts of music, but as with any oddball conclusion into my ecosystem, there is a story behind it.
In the way back time of 2008/2009, Twitter was new to me, and I had found a lively product management community that was fresh, fun, and invigorating.
It happened at the right time, as I was in a deep cycle of depression, my job sucked (at least the company I worked for at the time) and I felt at the end of the line.
Finding this community really helped restore my sanity. At the time I worked in the wasteland of Tucson, Arizona, where if I failed or quit, I was very likely to not find a new job without a relocation.
Bleak.
There was a member of this community that was a central figure for snarky takes, and no-bullshit. And she just kicked ass. Her handle was @crankyPM, and she was anonymous, and she dished the dirt. Dirt that we all saw and experienced and connected with because it was just like the fucked world that was Product Management in the late ‘aughts.
Tagging myself into this community was rewarding, and one other member of this clique went by the handle @siliconvalleyCEO, a founder who had done a few startups, and even had one that was bought. Of course, if that happened to me, I would be checking out, buying my island paradise, and telling the world to eat all of my ass, but alas, he was driven to do more.
Anyhow, one day, he shared this video, and whilst the music wasn’t to my normal tastes, it did click. It highlights the corruption hidden in plain sight in government, and I suspect that was the reason why siliconvalleyCEO shared this vid a few times.
The band is titled “Lo-Fidelity Allstars” but the creative behind this is Pigeonhed, a band that blends many genres into a cohesive whole.
Anyhow, that’s enough chin-wagging, and now to the videos.
I hope you enjoyed this break from reality.
Had to shut this one off after just a few seconds. Definitely NOT my style of music 🎵 🎼 🎶 !
Love hearing the backstory
