Not Today Satan: Classic Rock
When the fuck did Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Soundgarden become "Classic Rock"
This morning, I fired up my usual music companion (Amazon Music, I pay for it) and selected their curated playlist “Classic Rock”.
And I was jamming to some Pink Floyd, Credence, Boston, and The Who when something jarring rolled up. Nirvana.
What the fuck. Nirvana? Classic rock? Christ on a crouton, that was like 5 years ago that this was released, there is no fucking way it is “Classic”.
A few songs later, after some 70’s vintage ZZ Top, and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” on comes Foo Fighters.
Again, that is fresh, not classic. That is New Coke, not Coca Cola Classic. What is this bullshit.
It was then that I realized that no, the 1990’s were almost 30 years ago, and my beloved 70’s vintage rockers were from the paleolithic era.
Yes, I am old.
