'Sucker Punch' - Yeah, I like that...

JD Vance isn't very good at this, and it is telling that the "seasoned" pols running the Trump Campaign are certainly biting their nails. Delicious.

From the Post, at a donor event, the Couch Fucker Veep candidate Vance said the obvious, and I felt I had to share.

“All of us were hit with a little bit of a political sucker punch,” Vance said about Biden’s withdrawal on July 21, according to a recording of his remarks at a Saturday fundraiser in Golden Valley, Minn. “The bad news is that Kamala Harris does not have the same baggage as Joe Biden, because whatever we might have to say, Kamala is a lot younger. And Kamala Harris is obviously not struggling in the same ways that Joe Biden did.”

Yeah, ya think?

C’mon, your campaign has been harping on Biden since, uh FOREVER alternating between Biden being on point as the head of an extensive crime family, and Biden is a drooling idiot, needing nursing home care.

Hell, you all knew (or should have known) that if Biden was unable to continue, the replacement would be Kamala. For fuck’s sake, Nikki Haley was crystal clear that she was going to campaign against Harris, implying that Biden was a dead man walking.

Publicly, the Trump campaign has insisted that Harris replacing Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket has not changed the race, arguing that she shares responsibility for public dissatisfaction with Biden’s leadership. Vance told reporters on July 22, a day after Biden dropped out of the race, that there was no difference in running against Harris vs. Biden.

“I don’t think the political calculus changes at all,” Vance said. “We were running against Joe Biden’s open border, Kamala Harris’s open border. Kamala Harris supported the green new scam. Kamala Harris, frankly, covered Joe Biden even though it was obvious he was mentally incompetent for a very long time.”

I have a theory: You, like all Republicans, believed that the Democrat’s and their messy coalition with many factions that often looks like a goat rodeo, each interest group jockeying for advantage, while the Republicans all goose-step in formation, falling in line like good little minions.

You probably had the same affliction as the pundit class and the Never Trumpers (and plenty of Democrat insiders) where you assumed that Biden exiting would also catch Harris up in the maelstrom, sweeping her aside. This led to tons of fantasy West-Wing-esque dream-casting, with speculation of a truncated mini-primary, where their pet “acceptable” Democrat would wow the nation and be elevated at a contested convention in a floor fight.

We were told that this was the only way to find a “good” candidate, the assumption being that Harris, an African-American, Indian woman, was a non-starter. Sure, she should toss her hat into the ring, but, c’mon, nobody thought she could rise to the top of the list.

So, given these assumptions, the Trump campaign was basking in the post-coital glow of that week-long stretch of “good” news. From surviving the attempted murder of Trump in Pennsylvania, through the convention, the selection of JD Vance being a victory lap, essentially a boast that Trump didn’t need to select a Veep that expanded the map, or shored up his support in any area, no, Vance was a fuck-you to the Political theories.

Caught flat footed, the Republicans have been flailing. They really are grasping at straws, falling back to their seed-corn — Racism and Misogyny — that looks pretty awful to the political center.

Vance said the campaign would try to define Harris based on past positions, which he said included opposing fracking, praising the “defund the police” movement and supporting decriminalization of unauthorized border crossings. The Harris campaign says she won’t ban fracking. She denounced “defund the police” after becoming Biden’s running mate, and the current administration opposes decriminalizing border crossings.

Uh, are you so sure bucko? Those seem like 2020 arguments, not “staring a Trump 2.0 and Project 2025 in the face reality check” that seems to be what the electorate is keying in to.

I will finish with this tidbit of dried manure:

Vance spokesman Will Martin said Monday in a statement: “Poll after poll shows President Trump leading Kamala Harris as voters become aware of her weak, failed and dangerously liberal agenda. Her far-left ideas are even more radioactive than Joe Biden, particularly in the key swing states that will decide this election like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.”

Uh, sure dude, whatever the fuck you think. Right now, Harris has wrested the momentum from the Tangerine Turd, and the couch diddler.
