Look, I have managed people in the past, and one of the things I learned in an early “new manager” training was to package bad news in a “sandwich.” That means that if you have some negative feedback to give to an employee, you sandwich it between two positives. This softens the blow, and helps the employee you are providing that feedback to understand that they aren’t terrible, they just need to address the point of disappointment.
And I can tell you that this really works as a psychological technique.
But today, the House Republicans perfected the shit sandwich.
First, they — at the request of his orangeness — have aggressively torpedoed the compromise proposal in the Senate to provide aid to Ukraine and Israel with some pretty draconian improvement on the border crisis. I will admit that much of the border actions were tough to swallow, but the Dems in the Senate were willing to compromise to get the aid that is increasingly urgent. Look, sometimes you need to swallow the pride and do the hard work.
And torpedo it they did. That is the first slice of bread.
Then they finally decided the time was right to hold the floor vote for their ridiculous impeachment of secretary Mayorkas, and one knows that they don’t bring up things that don’t have the vote. I mean for fuck’s sake, they have a role for a member, called the “whip” who is charged with counting votes. But clearly the whip has lost his ability to count, and MAGA Mike Johnson calls for a vote and it LOSES. Seriously, he is standing there with his pants down for all to see.
What an embarrassment, but there’s more…
Not satisfied with losing face twice (good thing they aren’t Japanese or they might need to join their ancestors). How did they accomplish this trifecta?
They decided to try their hand at a standalone aid bill for Israel to save some face.
But the dinguses lost even that slam dunk. Seriously, for the Republicans to not be able to pass an aid package for an ally that they pretty much idolize? That is next level shit.
Isn’t it glorious?
They are so dumb and if it weren't for the fact so many will suffer from their negligence and grandstanding, I would be happier. People wonder why I cannot stand modern day Republicans. They support this shit; I do not trust the ones who say they do not support it either. Why are you a republican then? Don't hand me that fiscal responsibility bullshit!
They should hope to be in the minority a year from now. It’d be much less embarrassing.
The one thing that sticks in my mind is the expungement of Trump’s impeachments that was supposed to be done before the August recess that just disappeared when they came back from it. Maybe just because it was such a made up, farcical thing to begin with.
