He is really just bad at his job.
Ross Douthat, resident “conservative” rad-trad Catholic columnist at the grey lady is a fount of shitty takes. Seriously, he is arguing that because Trump is likely to win the Republican nomination for President in 2024, and that all his legal woes will not be decided prior to the conclusion of the nomination process, that we should just let the voters decide.
What claptrap, piss poor logic and reasoning in his latest column inches.

I rarely click on his OpEds, but when I do, my blood pressure rises over his disingenuous arguments, his blind spots that practically hit me in the face, and sometimes I just want to laugh with an out of touch religious douche nozzle.
That said, the comments are often worth diving into. The readers are ruthless in (polite) calling him to the mat. Alas, I suspect that he never reads them, but collects his huge check, continuing to write an “almost there” series on his struggle with tick-borne illness, where he admits that because of his benefits that working for the NY Times affords him, but he couldn’t get to the position that we should provide that level of care to all our citizens.
To be honest, if you read Douthat, and just take the contrary position, you will be on the right side of - well, everything. His instinct is to go hacky, to pretend to have a conscience, but then to pivot to tongue bathing the orange god-king.
Seriously, he has a position that is uber elite, and he just uses it to be a thinly veiled troll.
