Sort of like not looking into the abyss for too long, lest the abyss look into you.

This is depressing and frightening. I figured humans would find a way to end their existence, I just didn’t think it would be so soon.

The aptly described 'stilted' AI narration is always a good reason to avoid anything on YT, regardless of the topic.

While Tech-Nazis like Elmo CyberJunktruck claim that AI will be doing the doctoring, engineering and plane flying of the near future, lawyers are being sanctioned for using AI "citations" that don't exist because AI is nothing more than fast data-mining that regurgitates bullshit others have loaded into the database just as often as it finds factual information.

The thing that makes me laugh at attorneys using AI for citations is, it’s one thing to find them using AI but another not to check those citations. There are several legit programs that one can use to check if your citations are correct but they obviously didn’t even take that step. 🙄

I work at Cisco. The makers of networking equipment. Some of our SE (systems engineers, aka "technical" sales) used ChatGPT to help them put together BOMs (bills of materials) for customer orders.

ChatGPT "created" SKUs (stock keeping units, aka part numbers) for options that didn't exist. Customers were trying to order configurations of our products that didn't exist, and never had.

But it looks very authoritative. And that fools people who don't know any better, but in this case they discovered it when our commerce platform couldn't find the products, triggering support calls.

At the end of the day, these Generative AI tools don't know anything, but they are really good at creating a narrative that is plausible to humans.

For a good test, ask it to summarize the plot of a popular movie. My go to is Galaxy Quest. Or, ask an image generator to create an image of a human's left hand doing a drawing. It just can't.

My favourite genre ruined! I only watch streaming shows, but even the re-enacted ones are unbearable, let alone this shite. Ughhh.
