Last week, in one of the daily transcriptions the incomparable Levi Clay does on YouTube, he had something that turned my head. Of course, I missed it when it was first posted a few months back, but still, it was a case of whiplash.
I am speaking of a Brazilian guitarist, Lari Basilio. Before I gush some more, here’s the original video of her playing an interesting arrangement of a classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”.
Once the video starts showing her playing, my jaw dropped and hit the floor.
No, it was not because she is “easy on the eyes”, but it was because her playing, her touch, her mastery of the instrument really made me go ga-ga.
Holy cow, what an amazing player!
I just ordered both of her albums on CD (they should arrive in a week or so), and I am listening to her cover of “Kiss from a Rose” a Seal cover, masterful, toneful1, and just totally killer. Check it out:
Prepare to be blown away!
Yeah, I made that word up, but it fits
