Distasteful name, heinous crime
Since I am spitting blood at the SCOTUS decision to pretty much push out both Federal trials against Yam Tits, I need to post something to redirect my anger. From John Oliver's show this week
As we sat down to dinner, our Monday night ritual is to watch ”Last Week Tonight,” John Oliver’s weekly show on HBO, the title of the episode almost made us not want to tune in. Thinking the reference to “Pig Butchering” to be something about meat packers and the hideous work environment in slaughter houses, I am glad we watched it.
Instead of the gruesome industrial processing of animal flesh for human consumption, the term of art refers to a specific sort of catfishing operation, but instead of the usual MO, it is really a long con that targets lonely people in the west (mostly in the US) to trick them into a long crypto scam, draining their money into fake cryptocurrency exchanges, and then, instead of the “coin” hype/rug-pull, instead they just take all the money. One woman with terminal cancer lost almost $2M.
Also covered in the episode is the criminal gangs and human trafficking in south-east Asia that drives this business. There are manuals, playbooks, and strict monitoring of the scammers, with a lot of abuse.
You come away from this episode feeling for the marks, but also for the fodder that Chinese criminal gangs force into slavery and the beating that they often take (the victims of the trafficking).
It is worth the 24 minutes to watch this:
The Fucking Supreme Court
I will have much more to say about this when my blood pressure returns to normal, but the fact that there were 5 justices to grant the stay (it takes 4 to grant the hearing of the case, but 5 to issue a stay) tells me that there might be a willingness to grant Trump’s claim of absolute immunity.
And that seems like a really bad fucking thing.
Furthermore, this pretty much ensures that the case will be pushed out to 2025, after the election, and should Yam Tits win, these two cases will disappear faster than a case of PBR at a cousin bumper convention.
Spitting mad is just the start of it, but it looks like the SCOTUS is just fine with putting their fingers on the scale justice to help usher in the coming autocracy.
Lord help us1.
If you know anything about me, you know that I am a very non-religious person, and this situation gets me to use a reference to Yahweh or the Christian god. You know that it is rocking me to my core.
It feels like a bad dream, doesnt it? I didnt sleep well last night. All we can do is VOTE and work to get out the VOTE! Thanks for the Oliver link. Will watch! ✌️💙
