Jamelle Bouie is usually worth reading, and actually, this OpEd is worth reading, but for the life of me I question the wisdom of comparing the US political environment to the rigorous order of a bee-hive. I get the reference from the article he was describing, but still…

The piece is about a powerful public figure in Texas (duh) who believes that “masters” should have freedom, and the rank and file should just be subservient.

A pastor who once said that only Christians should hold leadership positions in government, Dunn sees himself as someone who is on a religious mission of sorts and has devoted his time and wealth to imposing his ultraconservative politics and fundamentalist beliefs on as many Texans as possible.

Yeah, using religion to control the “other” is neither new, nor novel.
