Hoping you can appreciate this call out as a music aficionado. Yesterday I was thinking about the Eagles song “Get over it” and the line “ I think ole Billy was right, kill all the lawyers, kill em tonight”, and I realized all I could do is insert the word billionaire for lawyers. As Robert Reicht and HCR often point out, we are in the Second Gilded Age and we have to look to history for answers to this plague.
Oh definitely. I also think a reworked version of "Destroy all Lawyers" by Mojo Nixon, or maybe even "Don Henley Must Die" is in the works. I will have to get the chords for the latter, and start working up lyrics.
I look at Republicans and feel like-the stupid! It hurts! But they keep getting elected. We're the smart ones. We keep getting hammered. What's wrong with this picture?

I have a hard time understanding the fear of retaliation from Trump when he couldn’t pull off a political dirty trick with Eric Adams without totally beclowning himself. I’ve watched too much of this to think there would be consequences. I don’t think this story is going to quickly fade. It’s a domestic version of the extortion he tried with Zelenskyy that got him to impeachment 1.
Also, good on all the government folks who actually have moral principles. I have some small hope that those like Emil Bove who don’t are going to face the reaper when this is over.

Any day now I fully expect to see Chuck Schumer's face on a milk carton - where the hell is he. As evidenced by the likely confirmation of Ka$h despite y'know actual fucking perjury, Trump's mendacity has really brought to light how very little most Republicans, elected or otherwise, seem to care about the truth. This is absolutely something we're going to have to tackle if we're ever able to excise the cancer that is the MAGA movement from this country.
I don't know if I can think of a solution for it, but in their vaguely solarpunk-ish novel, Gamechanger, LX Beckett puts forward a gamified system where society has pretty much given up on privacy, or at least strongly disincentivizes lying or anything reminiscent of trolling, in a backlash to our present moment. It's an interesting read if nothing else.
Also, I know comparing MAGA to Nazis and Trump to Hitler is incredibly overdone, but if you look at the summation for the prosecution by Robert Jackson in the Nuremburg trials, he really does a good job highlighting how "[l]ying has always been a highly approved Nazi technique" and "Hitler in Mein Kampf advocated mendacity as a policy," before outlining how you basically couldn't trust those fucks as far as you could throw them.

I too have numb fingers from typing STOP. I’m not worried about retaliation (I’m too small) but if I was powerful with a platform I would definitely be in the vocal resistance, would not kowtow to Mar Lago and would be leading the charge. I can understand why billionaires dont want to give money to the Dems at this time. They are disorganized and have lost their way. But that’s a completely different thing than kissing the ring and conspiring with the evil that is going on in plain light. I can’t get Hitler Germany out of my mind. It’s happening here.
I think that, if Kamala had demanded a recount and said she needed funds for it, she would be inundated with money. She shirked her duty to her supporters *AND* Tim Walz by not asking for a recount at least in swing states. Does anyone know what Drumpf and Mike Johnson’s “Secret” was? I’m sure Elon and his coders messed with the ballots, as the tight race was “won” in swing states with a very calculated number of votes. The percentages were just large enough to NOT trigger a recount in any state. 🥺
All the pleas for my dollars go into junk where they belong. My money is going to other organizations that will need it when they get hauled into court for the crimes of taking care of people in need.
