He said what? No, JD Vance, teens aren't transitioning just to get into an Ivy

We are at the level of desperation where the Trump team is throwing anything at the wall to see what *might* stick. That stench you are smelling? That is flop sweat.

I have gotten supremely busy this week at work. Being promoted, managing a growing team, and trying to extricate myself from the tactical morass that is what I used to do is taking a LOT of my time.

That has meant that my time to focus here has decreased dramatically.

Last night, I did what I usually do on Halloween, I set up a little table out front, a chair, and I sit out there strumming music to hand out candy¹.

With this, I will admit that I was groggy at my usual wake up time, so to ease into the start of my day, I picked up my iPad and checked the news. What popped up almost immediately on the NY Times ad?

Headline: “Vance Tells Rogan: Teens Become Trans to Get Into Ivy League”

The subhead was almost as awful: “Appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Senator JD Vance also said that liberal women celebrate their abortions and that Donald Trump would win the “normal gay guy vote.””

Look, I know that Tim Walz has called JD Vance “Weird”, causing outcries from the right about how they aren’t weird, but read those two statements and tell me if they don’t scream total batshit insanely weird…

Senator JD Vance of Ohio criticized what he called “gender transition craziness,” spoke dismissively of women he claimed were “celebrating” their abortions and said that studies “connect testosterone levels in young men with conservative politics” during a three-hour episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” that was released on Thursday.

I am going to take a page from Molly White, and say bro, you really need to cite some sources for that. All of it.

The quantity of hysteria they are spewing WRT Transgender individuals is more than the inundation that hurricane Helene dropped on western North Carolina. And I guess it resonates with their base, and the toxic young men who are MAGA or MAGA curious. And sure, some of that will leak into the middle of the country, but really is this top of the list of issues of any normal person?

But to postulate that this is a cheat code to being accepted to a top tier Ivy League university is just laughable.

Mr. Vance criticized transgender and nonbinary people at length during the conversation, saying that he would not be surprised if he and his running mate, former President Donald J. Trump, won what he called “the normal gay guy vote.” And he suggested that children in upper-middle-class white families saw becoming trans as a way to improve their odds of getting into Ivy League colleges.

“If you are a, you know, middle-class or upper-middle-class white parent, and the only thing that you care about is whether your child goes into Harvard or Yale, like, obviously, that pathway has become a lot harder for a lot of upper-middle-class kids,” Mr. Vance told Mr. Rogan. “But the one way that those people can participate in the D.E.I. bureaucracy in this country is to be trans.”

Wait, did he just imply that parents are pressuring trans teens to transition to increase their odds of getting into Harvard or Yale, by working the DEI refs.

I mean, come on fam, you think someone would transition, deal with the hate and bullying by their peers, to be subject to slurs being yelled at them by strangers, and to be one of the 40% of transgender people² who attempt suicide due to the garbage invective and physical threats to their body?

What is clear is that JD Vance, and virtually all of the MAGA and Republican population have never actually met a trans individual. Because if they had, they would realize that they are people, they aren’t monsters, they aren’t threatening, and they are just great³.

Later in the interview, he said the following:

At one point, Mr. Vance suggested that liberal women were publicly celebrating their abortions — “baking birthday cakes and posting about it” on social media — a notion Mr. Rogan pushed back on.

“I think there’s very few people that are celebrating,” Mr. Rogan said.

Mr. Rogan challenged Mr. Vance on abortion rights.

“For a lot of people, one of the issues is that men are making decisions for what women can and can’t do,” he said. “And one of the more concerning aspects of this is, like, say if you live in a state like Texas where there’s a limit to when you can get an abortion — I think it’s like six weeks, which a lot of people think at that point in time you can’t even tell whether or not you’re pregnant, and this puts a lot of women in, like, very vulnerable positions. And then there is this thought that they could go to another state where it is legal and have an abortion, but they could be possibly prosecuted for that in their state. That’s concerning to me.”

I pulled a longer quote to highlight that to my shock, Joe Rogan actually pushed back. And he pushed back effectively.

Then the testosterone thread. First what the fuck is wrong with the Manosphere, where influencer douchebags like Jordan Petersen, Andrew Tate and others poison lonely young men where they have this unhealthy fixation on high-T.

“Have you seen all these studies that basically connect testosterone levels in young men with conservative politics?” Mr. Vance asked Mr. Rogan. “Maybe that’s why the Democrats want us all to be, you know, poor health and overweight is because it means we’re going to be more liberal, right? If you make people less healthy, they apparently become more politically liberal.”

Bro, citation needed on those so called “studies”, because they sound sketchy as fuck.

Here’s to hoping that after Tuesday next week Senator Vance can crawl back to the Senate to lick his “red rocket”⁴ back into its sheath.
