There is one remaining remedy, the second amendment one. The further we go down this road, the more likely it gets. And it will have a chilling effect on further rulebreaking...the entire country is armed to the teeth.

I know it is hard to believe that the people pouring into the streets and grinding the gears of industry to a halt will be productive, but I’m in George’s camp here. Robert Reich mentioned April 19 as a date since it is the 250th anniversary of the shots fired at Concord. How do we organize a massive turnout? It’s a Saturday, so a bit of a show pony in that regard, but if it shows what we can do it is a good first step.

Yep, they're telegraphing that they aren't going to follow court orders.

This is fine 🙄

Honestly, I am not sure. Doesn't look like there is much appetite for rioting in the street, and if that does happen, expect the military to respond, and make Kent State seem tame.

It would be better of the R's would get their heads out of their asses, and stand up to Trump and the onslaught, but at the moment, and for the foreseeable future, I just do not see that happening.

Never happen. They have acquiesced. The Rs are as dead as Lara Trump said they were. It’s MAGA+ now.

So, what's your fucking solution then? You say it's up to us, but other than letting ourselves be slaughtered in the streets, you provide nothing of value.

Sadly, that is probably the only potential path out of this. And I am not sure there is the will (yet) to do go that far.

There are more of us than them, but there are no easy paths.

Agree. The lawsuits are going to be nothing more than nuisances that *might* slow the fascists down a bit, but if the FBI is purged and other federal law enforcement is hog tied, who will arrest the perpetrators? Why Trump was not tried for treason by the DOJ immediately after J6 and thrown in jail is beyond me. And now it’s too late.

I am a lawyer and I agree with your analysis. The only power that can enforce a court ruling against is the military. I am not holding my breath on that happening.

Can't the federal judges commandeer help, say, the DC Police? Or the Capitol Police?

I just can't see the military under Hegseth being leveraged against Musk or Trump.

No, that is a bleak prognosis.

Painfully on point. Project 2025 just the way that they planned it.

The number of people during the summer that told me I was being irrational since Trump disavowed the Project 2025 was dispiriting. I was told I was being hysterical for pointing out its ties to the prior Trump administration.

Thanks, I am just exhausted by being chastised by people saying that the flurry of lawsuits was going to prevent the worst from happening. It is just good to see one of these proponents of the Rule of Law (and a life-long member of the Federalist Society) to finally admit that Trump holds all the prosecutorial powers in his hand with his hand-picked cabinet members, and a wave of loyalty pledges sweeping through all levels of government.

Us mere citizens have almost no power left, but when that finally breaks down, it will be time for the guillotines.

If pardoning every violent January 6th criminal didn’t open your eyes, if SCOTUS granting the POTUS authoritarian power didn’t, if Merrick Garland’s traitorous actions of slow walking every investigation of Trump’s crimes didn’t, if Bill Barr’s redacted version of the Mueller report didn’t , if Jeff Sessions is the last AG this country had with a shred of dignity (who thought it couldn’t get worse there) didn’t. Then it’s far too late for the “rule of law”. When the police endorsed Trump, after their brothers were beaten to death by MAGA, didn’t, when people were convinced the price of eggs would be our downfall. We have each other.

Laws are not a thing of the past, we need leaders. Leaders like Jamie Raskin, Jasmine Crockett, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Jared Moskwitz. There are others to be sure. We are far from over but closer than we’ve ever been.

Monitor your senator’s voting record. I fear Fetterman is our replacement for Manchin/Simema and there are other Democrats who are willing to advance Trump’s agenda.

Do not stand for a single vote from any senator of the Democratic Party that approves of anything Trump and Co-POTUS Musk are attempting to do.

Not one democrat from this moment forward who votes to further this insanity should receive any support from their constituency, looking at you Amy Klobuchar with 4 votes toward confirmation of Trump’s cabinet nominees, very disappointed.

For those that have voted repeatedly (1-2) to advance anything at all allowing this crime spree to continue, you’ve done enough damage already, you’ll have opponents in your next primary willing to hold the line on our democracy.

Yes. But maybe all non compliant states should set up escrow accounts where people (and companies with withholding money) can send their taxes now that the US government doesn’t exist. Of course all 47 expects is that grift m, blackmail, bribery will pay for his household - but hasn’t thought about how all his red states are net takers from the fed purse and they won’t be happy if it’s empty. Imagine if Texas and Florida have to pay to support themselves and the really poor states.

I have long feared that a civil war is the final blow to democracy, the constitution, and US power internationally that has been the long range plan of the foreign power whose payroll has included dictator on day one and his enablers for many years. But if the west coast and northeast states just started escrowing tax payments maybe there’d be too many fronts and -soon - too little money - to wage that war. Then the good people could reinstate democracy and the constitution in their new country.

The US is not a geographic location. It is an agreement among like minded states to have a democracy and a constitution and a government reflecting those values. The US has ceased to exist already. So there’s no need for secession, just a need to stop paying into the coffers of the dictatorship. Our members of Congress can come home and create a real Congress that respects the values that have been thrown away by the current regime in Washington/Florida.

If the death of America is the party we are at and our invite is a simple, "I told you so", at least have the decency to bring a hostess gift: a platter of deviled eggs whose opened mayo was left on the counter for a week, a can of whoopass or a gift certificate to something called, Plan B.

The game at this party shouldn't be who's screaming loudest, "the sky is falling". it should be who brought the most effective umbrella, how can we recycle the pieces that fell, how fast can we build a better sky and WILL SOMEONE TAKE OUT THE GUY POINTING A LASER AT THE SKY?!

If the Trojans, Walnut Creek, and high school seniors can spike the punch, why don't we?

Can you writers with your well-oiled thinking muscles stop singing death dirges and start playing war ditties. Give us our marching orders already.
