More Headline Takes
Seriously, the editors at the major news outlets who draft the headlines seem to be drunk. Today, on a cold, wet, and VERY windy day here in Silicon Valley.
Let’s get to it…
From the WaPo. I wrote about this yesterday, but here is the headline:
Uh, because they get rewarded by the stock market, driving up stock prices, and making their options much more juicy. Duh.
Uh, I dunno, how about just drinking less? I often grumble about Leana Wen’s takes, as she is way too friendly to the vaccine skeptics in an effort to understand their wrongheaded opinions.
Uh, this is no secret. The IRS could send 90% of taxpayers a 3x5 card with the details on earnings and taxes owed, that you could sign and return and be done with it. But Intuit (TurboTax maker) and H&R Block are very strong anti lobbies that prevent this. Blame corporate greed.
Well, getting the fucking roof-top solar ponzi scam cleaned up would be a good start. The current incentives have provided ample loopholes for private equity to work the angle for their benefit. Very bad.
Huh, who would have thought literal metric tons of member funds would be tapped to ensure Wayne LaPierre live like a 0.01%er.

Never read Ross Douthat unless you like throwing your phone across the room. Alas it can be cathartic to read him getting flensed1 in the comments.

Also, can’t imagine how the gambling on the Super Bowl would be all that lucrative. We all know that KC is going to win because the Biden Deep State has decreed it. Suppose they can still bet on the coin toss. That’s gotta be fixed too tho. Joe is quite the detail guy in between bouts of dementia.
Tom Scoca’s daily 5’ish minute podcast is an excellent takedown of the day’s New York Times *A section*. As the former editor of Gawker, he knows what he’s talking about and it’s awesome.
