Music: Andy Timmons plays Queen
A unique take on a classic rock iconoclast, Bohemian Rhapsody.
(Intro - I have plenty of thoughts regarding the election, the aftermath, and where it means America is going. I just am not ready to write about it yet. In the meantime, I will continue to post about music)
I was numbly navigating YouTube this morning to avoid reading about politics1, and I stumbled upon 1980’s guitar icon(minor) Andy Timmons with a title that was intriguing. Bohemian Rhapsody, and since that is my second favorite song from the Queen album “A Night at the Opera”2, naturally I clicked through, and was treated to this fun adaptation to solo guitar.
Bo Rhap is one of those songs that when it rolls up on the radio (playlist) you sit down and listen until the last note decays into the abyss. Like Stairway to Heaven, Green Grass and High Tides, or Funeral for a Friend.
7-ish minutes of a masterful arrangement for electric guitar, and a fascinating interpretation.
Less shred, but quite tastefully covered Freddie’s piano and Brian’s guitar parts.
Watching the rogues’ gallery of cabinet picks from Trump is filling me with a bit of glee from watching all the never Trump and other so-called “serious” Republicans fall all over themselves in shock. Like, what the fuck did you think was going to happen?
Prophet’s Song uber alles! \m/
I sang along….
I continue to be amazed by the talent of Andy Timmons. Unlike some in the shredder camp, he clearly has great rapport with his audience and even a little self-deprecating humor. Thanks for the video.
