Since I posted the HGotW early, I have a slot today for some killer music.
I first learned of guitar-slinger Gretchen Menn when she played on an epic album by Alexandra Zerner (a killer player in her own rights), and I dove in deep.
Just this morning, Youtube tossed a vid by her on my feed, and I clicked on it. This is a recording made live at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California (an easy drive for me), in the aftermath of the passing of Jeff Beck, a true icon.
In this, they play a tribute to the man himself titled “Brush with the Blues”, and it is just a slow jam, soulful, and intense.
I hope you enjoy it, and I encourage you to dive down that rabbit hole yourself…
Just tasty playing all around.
Very nice, thanks for posting Geoff! I’ve been a Jeff Beck fan since the 60’s from Yardbirds to The Jeff Beck Group to seeing him live in Atlanta in 1999 ( or 2000). Aside from Jimi Hendrix there has never been anything like him.
Lawdy!! Nothing better to listen to while stuck in traffic! Thank you for this.
