Music: Mario Parga returns
His new album is just loaded with outstanding guitar work, soulful compositions, and balance that shows a level of maturity that is inspiring.
The last time I saw a new Mario Parga album hit the air was 2007, and the album “Entranced” was just amazing.
Here it is, eighteen years later, and a post I wrote last year on how my appreciation of Mario’s playing highlighting the epic track Valse Diabolique from the Alchemists compilation album just got a new comment.
A comment from the man himself. Mario dropped by to personally alert me to his latest hitting the stands on May 20, 20251.
Anyhow, as I draft this, I am listening to the complete album, and so far, all the tracks are killer. Great riffs, tasty lead breaks, and enough shred to keep an old guitar playing wanna-be thrilled.
I am linking to Bayou Fantome, it is a delightful amalgam of a killer groove with enough candy tossed in to keep the head bobbing in time with the track.
I hope that track agrees with you.
Here’s to Shadows and Light, and a player’s player. Mario Parga. Well done sir!

Ok, I will come clean, Mario didn’t single me out for favoritism, but I am still grateful for his kind words, and yes, I immediately dropped the $9.99 to buy a copy of his latest.
