Music thou shall not play: A ripping cover of Freebird
Blackberry Smokes do justice to the titans of Southern Rock with this medley of awesome.
A while back, I posted about songs that shall not be played. It was somewhat tongue in cheek, but not really.
If you go into a music store and start playing the first few bars of Stairway to Heaven (the worst offender) you will draw the commerce drone1 to tap you on the shoulder to stop playing it.
But beyond Stairway to Heaven, there are plenty of others. Crazy Train, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Master of Puppets, and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Anyhow, this morning this footage emerged from the band Blackberry Smoke, a southern rock band playing a medley tribute to the Lynyrd Skynyrd boys, and yes, it starts with Freebird.
Anyhow, their renditions are faithful, respectful, and frankly awesome. I hope you enjoy this.
aka Sales Person, usually some dude who plays gigs with his shitty garage band at night, working for the discount and the money.
Hey there, many music stars started playing in unpolished groups and got brtter and better.
Not much of a Skynyrd fan, but 'Freebird' is on my personal favorites playlist because it is a kick-ass song.
