The Republican Party is following a President that has made Golden statues of himself. He had them placed at CPAC. People bowed down to the statues. The said nothing. Helgard Mueller wrote a book calling Trump the “Son of Man - The Christ”. Trump did Nothing. Trump had a Golden Trump Bible produced with some additional documents - because he had to “customize” the Word of God.

Now these “Southern Baptists” are planning to act on plans from Trumpverse and that includes the Supreme Court!

Who is God and who is and idol worshipping False Prophet!

They should look in their Bibles about what happens to those who follow false prophets - especially to those who once knew the True Word and left that path and stole others from the Lord’s flock to take with them.

The weekend after the Nov ‘24 elections, I reactivated a 35 year quiet period for my small gun collection by purchasing a 12g pump shotgun. A few months later came a compact 9mm pistol, various accessories for various existing firearms, and my completion of a CCW class. My permit arrived a few weeks later. Monthly trips to my local indoor range began in January. Yesterday, I purchased another compact 9mm pistol. My wife (a non-gun person) looked at me and said, “Well, I sure didn’t think I’d pulled the Bingo card that my wife would be a liberal gun person.” I said, “Yeah, me neither, but who would have thought our fellow citizens, many of whom claim to embrace us, would re-elect the 🍊💩🤡?”

You see, I am a trans women, who came out at age 55 in 2013, completed transition in 2017. Most of our friends, neighbors, and family, who accept us, never even give me/us a second thought. But there are some haters all around us here in northern Arizona, in Yavapai County, with the ultra MAGA centered in and around Prescott.

Further, I have seen the LGBTQ+ community get hair-trigger jelly-belly over attacks on trans folks. I have had a few members of local Pride and PFLAG groups tell me trans people are not included in their groups. What the F?! Since when?! And I cannot tell you how many local gay men in particular I have had to remind over the years that the Stonewall riots they claim to honor so highly were in fact started by transwomen, not drag queens. It is very discouraging/disheartening how quickly our so-called rainbow community can be fractured by mere threats from the christo-fascist cult marriage of Donald Trump, Mike Johnson, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Come on, people, stand up for ALL OF US!

So, yeah, now I have been forced to invest in security cameras, improved door locks, firearms, and training, instead of new guitars and effects pedals, in my retirement chapter because who the hell knows when a day will come that trans people will be physically attacked by roving gangs of MAGA zombies. It is not so far-fetched today as 7 months ago. I pray I have over prepared.

Thank you for raining this topic, and for your support.💖🌈

I can’t fault any of your logic (and I have a safe full of firearms too, and I am quite a good shot at well).

I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I will be ready

Glad you’re here!

If you were to think about it, the religious right has worked for more than one generation . 50 years.) to overturn Roe versus wade. What possessed the Democratic party leadership to think that the religious right would not then turn their attention to gay rights. In a previous podcast, Michael Steele was trying to point out that the Democrats were being complacent about gay rights and specifically trans. He stated that the religious rights had swallowed their bile to accept the ruling, but still had an immense amount of rage about gay rights. I will admit, I did not expect the effort to include contraception and sodomy.(which apparently many of us have forgotten used to be a criminal offense.). But then again forgotten, homosexuality was considered a psychiatric disorder in that time. Regarding the polls, supporting gay rights, you could raise the question of selection by us in that people who hate gay rights may not participate in such a study, can’t tell if that’s true, but you need to think about when estimating the acceptance of Obergefall. Last, I think the rest of us need to worry about “ Christian Sharia” (afraid first heard from Adam Kinzinger), there have been radical Christian nationalist stating a desire for a theocracy with America being ruled by their interpretation of the Bible. I imagine Mike Johnson would love that.

It amused me at the time that Thomas didn’t include “Loving v Virginia” in his concurrence overturning Roe even though it was decided on the same standard as the rest of the rights they now want to strip away were. Because, reasons. Personal ones, obviously.

Idk how far they’ll be able to push their latest agenda because as you said, public opinion. Also there’s the problem that that there are like a million+ same-sex married couples already. Quite a conundrum. Overturning Roe and fucking with laws that won’t impact everything from the tax code to actual living children might prove to be a far more difficult battle.

And the worst part is, the Democrats didn't lift a FINGER to make these decisions the law of the land when they had the majority, because it was so much easier to use the fear of Exactly What's Happening Now to fundraise! 🤬

The SCOTUS decisions made them the law of the land.

No, because as DOBBS proved, the law could be changed by a Right Wing-packed Supreme Court!

THAT is why we need our legislators passing laws to protect women's choice, gay/trans rights, and all those other thing Clinton NeoLiberals hate to take a stand on....

They did the best they could regarding same-sex marriage in 2022.

Public Law No: 117-228 (12/13/2022)

Respect for Marriage Act

This act provides statutory authority for same-sex and interracial marriages.

Specifically, the act replaces provisions that define, for purposes of federal law, marriage as between a man and a woman and spouse as a person of the opposite sex with provisions that recognize any marriage between two individuals that is valid under state law. (The Supreme Court held that the current provisions were unconstitutional in United States v. Windsor in 2013.)

The act also replaces provisions that do not require states to recognize same-sex marriages from other states with provisions that prohibit the denial of full faith and credit or any right or claim relating to out-of-state marriages on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin. (The Supreme Court held that state laws barring same-sex marriages were unconstitutional in Obergefell v. Hodges in 2015; the Court held that state laws barring interracial marriages were unconstitutional in Loving v. Virginia in 1967.) The act allows the Department of Justice to bring a civil action and establishes a private right of action for violations.

The act does not (1) affect religious liberties or conscience protections that are available under the Constitution or federal law, (2) require religious organizations to provide goods or services to formally recognize or celebrate a marriage, (3) affect any benefits or rights that do not arise from a marriage, or (4) recognize under federal law any marriage between more than two individuals.

"They did the best they could" is the kind of excuse the Clinton NeoLibs use to do nothing that might upset their donor's applecart, really.

This "Respect for Marriage Act" doesn't seem to have had any effect on Right-Wing courts gleefully outlawing same-sex marriage. It feels like "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"—a quarter-measure so the Dems can see "See, we did SOMETHING! It may have no teeth in it, but it's...something....", then expect praise for that.

Until the Democrats push for the "Fuck You, You Homophobic MAGAts!" Act? Everything they do is timid and full of loopholes....

You know what gets me? That YOU think your last comment would shut me up, because you don't look at the rest of the Developed World manages these same problems—not always well, not always consistently, but the most Far Right Wing member of the British Parliament would never even CONSIDER shutting down the National Health Service, whereas Obama had to fight his own party tooth and nail for rebadged "Romneycare"!

Throw the bums out, for openers, and replace them with TRUE Progressives like Bernie Sanders (or his younger equivalents), AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and anybody else willing to FIGHT the Right rather than collect both a Government salary and bribes from PACs. Make the Democratic Party once again welcoming to Labor and the Left by supporting unions as well as Gay Rights, increasing Minimum Wage as well as Women's Choice, and rebuilding and expanding the Social Safety Net while taxing Billionaires at LEAST as much as you do what's left of the Middle Class.

I didn't say it would be EASY, but stop voting for DINOs just because they have a "D" after their names.

You're about to say, "But we HAVE to be 'realistic'!"—which to you means supporting Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, and HATING on Bernie Sanders rather than making him the head of your party!
