Life at work is getting amped to eleven, and I am beginning to lose my lunch hour to meetings. If I posted a snap of my weekly calendar, you would probably wonder when I get work done (answer: I am a morning person, and a lot gets done before 8:00AM).
And whilst the Debate this week was delish, I crave some non-political content, and I turned to some of my favorite Youtube channels. I do follow plenty of non-political channels, they are often tied to either financial topics, crypto scam expose’s and/or musical instrument content.
One of my favorite financial channels is Patrick Boyle. He has a dry British accent, and he captures the wit of the classic Monty Python sketch comedy.
Today’s video is 25 minutes long, but it is a joy. Patrick plays the ultimate straight man1 and his measured delivery makes his important messages that he writes about engaging topics that are relevant to many people.
The topic is how the Silicon Valley “Tech Bros” reinvent things that already exist, and he pokes fun at their “vision”. Yeah, these people got funding to build this shit. (Side bar: Dave Karpf has a great treatise on the sickness that is Y-Combinator)
I promise you, if you watch the first 5 minutes of this, you will not be able to turn it away.
No, not as a heterosexual, but as the straight man in a comedy skit, that enhances the punchline
I have to come back to finish watching but by the David Bowie/Ice Ice Baby segment at like 3 mins in I was laughing out loud.
I am married to a Patrick (not Boyle) with a common British last name who is an expert at dead pan delivery and fond of googling himself to find the other Patricks who share his name, so that was particularly entertaining to me
Hilarious. Loved this. So much useless shit, can’t believe some of those “inventions” that people bought. Highlight though: Elmo taking us to the moon but JFK’s speech. 😂
