This guy got rich (and crippled) by going for a run after large rain storm and with hurricane force winds blew down a large tree on a neighbor’s ranch. The tree hit Abbott and crippled him; so he sued his neighbor for Millions; for HIS stupidity for running in that kind of weather & basically an act of god.
Then When HE got into power He signed a law severely restricting how much Anyone Else could sue for damages!
