This will end well (NOT): Trump Takes Over the RNC
I'm going to need to lay in a LOT more popcorn...
For about the last month or so, we have been hearing that Trump was going to push out Ronna (Romney1) McDaniel at the head of the RNC, and replace her with more friendly to Trump people. Then it was revealed that he intended to install his daughter in-law to co-lead with election denier Michael Watley (a real piece of work from North Carolina), and then for the cherry on top, Trump Campaign advisor, Chris LaCivita rounding out the leadership as chief of operations.
It is hard to understand why Trump was upset with the RNC. I mean they have been helping pay his legal bills since he was defeated in 2020, and it would be hard to fault the former head, who had a maiden name-ectomy to remove the reference to the hated Mitt(ens) Romney, but apparently her focus on helping other republicans, oh, you know, win seats to maintain their majority in the House, and try to recapture the majority in the Senate, but c’mon, it is all about the Tangerine Hippo’s quest to escape accountability for all his criming, the rest of the party (and country) be damned.
So Ronna is out, Lara, Chris, and Michael are in.
And yesterday, they went a’firing. This article from the Times, “Trump Aides, Taking Over R.N.C., Order Mass Layoffs2”. Apparently on Monday, 60 staffers, including many in leadership roles were vaporized:
Days after allies took over the Republican National Committee, Donald J. Trump’s advisers are imposing mass layoffs on the party, with more than 60 officials, including senior staff members, laid off or asked to resign and then reapply for their jobs, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Oh, they were just asked to “reapply”. Yeah, I’ve seen that game in corporate America, and it doesn’t end well. It is a fig-leaf of compassion, that really should be read by those terminated as the time to brush up their resumes and begin to look for the next gig.
It also stated that the beatings (firings) will continue until morale improves.
Some of those who were asked to reapply were offered a generic email to make their interest in rejoining known, according to an email to staff from Sean Cairncross, a former top R.N.C. official who had just returned to the committee.
Yeah, that bodes well. Of course, they also are moving the finance and data operations to Palm Beach, because, yeah, moving them away from DC makes perfect sense.
Look, I enjoy reading about the turmoil in the ranks of Republicans, I lean center left, and watching them squirm, and their worry about donations being funneled to the Shit-gibbon’s legal fund, but I also know that a lot of the rank-and-file Republicans rely on support from the RNC to aid their campaign motions.
The rank and file ought to be up in arms about this, but alas, they have been so buried in MAGA cultism that they will have to reinforce this as a good thing, and that of course the RNC should do nothing for down ballot support, to ensure that Trump’s campaign to remain free of criminal conviction (a.k.a. winning in November) is in the best interest of the country.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
I might formally OD on schadenfreude and popcorn overload.
It is truly mind boggling that she excised her relationship to Mitt Romney, who while I was not a fan, he is an honorable man, just to placate the Bronzed Doofus.
gifted link.
This should assure the demise of the "Republican" party. Inept, delusional people with no interest in governing, just appeasing their "Tangerine Hippo" (great name!). It's another Trump money grab and the rest of the weaklings in the party are gonna sit back and let it happen. Good for the DNC. 😂✌️
If there's one thing that the party's ongoing shitslide demonstrates, it's that we humans can be herd animals, while thinking we're so individualistic ("doing my own research", etc.).
