Tim Scott has a girlfriend
I'm sure she's real. She just lives in Canada
One of the interesting dynamics in the Republican primary field for the 2024 US Presidential election is the speculation around the relationship status of Tim Scott.
In case you missed it, Tim Scott, Senator of South Carolina, aged 57, is a self avowed bachelor. He has never been married, and indeed, when he was appointed to the Senate by then governor, Nikki Haley, it was widely known at the time that he was still a virgin, ostensibly saving himself for marriage, flexing his Evangelical bona fides.
Uh huh. Sure. A mid 40s male who is a virgin, not that there’s anything wrong with that1.
Now that he’s running for the Republican nomination his relationship status is once again in question. Apparently, he has had sex, but he isn’t married.
But, don’t despair, because he totally is in a committed relationship (with a woman) but he doesn’t want to impact her privacy.
I mean, since she’s Canadian and all.
nota bene: Honestly, I have no issues whatsoever with Scott’s love life, or lack thereof, but it is his regressive positions and strong religious authoritarian tendencies that make him a horrible candidate.
The weird thing is that the senior senator from SC is Lindsay Graham, long rumored to be gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
