The cartoon really struck me. I liked the fact that only -he’s in color and the rest of the space is in a ghostly gray. And in that gray are traceries of hidden things. The two sinks to either side; are they sinks? Are they bidets? Are they toilets? The fact that he’s fully closed in his own throne, surrounded with what seems to be some sort of isolation and drapery, just adds to the self-sycophantic isolation. The act of defecating and texting become synonymous. It’s remarkable that the artist has captured this sad little man doing his sad little bit of “work”, the only real output of his now fevered mind.
