All praise the Kamala Harris Juggernaut! She's on fire, taking the fight to the hapless racist and misogynists of the Republican party, and it is absolutely fabulous!
Great take on the recent turn of events Geoff. It has been a rollercoaster of thoughts and emotions on my end, but now, damn it feels good to be a gangster!
I agree with everything you said , Geoff . Yet this will boil down to a VP choice ,and fair election , With the orange turd on that other side . Not sure it will be fair election . Peace to you and your readers
What capped off my week of Kamala for Pres was the Villages having a huge Kamala rally. When you’ve lost those former Trump people, there goes 1/2 your base. Yep, big grin on my face
I think Joe has prepared Kamala since day one he knew that at any minute she may have to step into his shoes, He has had her with him more than than people realized, he has had her with him at most meetings with foreign leaders so they know her. Joe is a Masterful Politician, I feel that the trail against Hunter was rough on him I feel he knew then he might step down, put he had his own plan I feel more than the debate having him decide or people pressuring him, The pain he felt he put Hunter thru was a lot. He said it himself “ I’m sorry they put you thru this if I wasn’t running for re-election this wouldn’t have happen”. Then the Shooting at The Orange shit stain, This 20 year old had plans for to shoot Biden too I feel he decided now is the time....I feel Biden purposely waited until the RNC Convention so they’re boxed in with their Shit ticket, And of course Kamala is his endorsement she’ll see that the rest of his vision for America is completed I’ve always felt when he got his second term, he’d finish up things he started for a few years than step down making history leaving Kamala as the First Female and Multi cultural President. He took everyone of guard , Finally The letter written on an unassuming Sunday sent in to social media is Biden giving the Press The Middle Finger in a huge way. He didn’t give any of them the breaking story, letting them know that he knows how shitty they are to him and America. He also gave a fuck you to his Donors who turned on him by endorsing Kamala because they would have tried to control that to. I’ve always known Joe would never take his eyes off American He knew exactly what he was doing, He is the last man standing with integrity. Project 2025 is a sort of book on things that are on the chopping block of becoming obsolete Billionaire s lose they’re tax cuts that Trump put in place in 2025 , A Global World puts brown skin people in all professions and visible threatening white men , Along with women independence and getting power. Christian religions shrinking because they are not having as many kids. All of these Brands are fast becoming a thing of the past. I was heart broken last Sunday but I’ve always felt that Kamala is a badass and knew one way or the other she’d be a great President.
I enjoyed this article. I felt the same way. I felt the Dems would screw us again and we would end up with a disaster with an open convention. Bless our wonderful President for putting our country first, knowing one bad debate would take us down. Bless him even more for waiting under after the MAGA convention, and then endorsing Kalama! Check mate Joe!! 💃💃💃
1) While I may be repeating myself here: Fuck every Never Trumper who thought they could "manspeak" to Democrats about how to do any-fucking-thing. They helped create the MAGA Frankenstein Monster.
2) I know this will never happen, but just sit back and envision the GOP reaction were Kamala to name Rick Wilson as her VP choice. Someone should float that idea out there just to fuck with Trump.
I also think that Biden held the “Obama insiders’” feet to the fire, lining up endorsements and support for Harris as a concession to him stepping aside.
Great piece to start Sunday. Also loved the video from “office space”. Pure joy!
Now that KH has stepped out of the VP “shadows” into her own spotlight we see she has EVERYTHING on the orange shitstain. He is the old feeble one now and he plays that role perfectly. It just took KH and Biden’s genius move to put it on display. All people have to see is one of his diatribes side by side with one of KH’s appearances and it’s game over. JDV’s presence on the MAGA ticket is icing on the proverbial cake.
Great piece. Can’t wait for the convention. Trump is going absolutely lose his mind over the love Joe Biden is going to get, the non-Kid Rock level stars and, best of all, the ratings.
It’s almost like Kamala Harris was designed in a lab to be everything that Donald isn’t. A smart, charismatic, funny, talented mixed race female prosecutor vs whatever he’s presenting himself as these days. And the *creepy weirdo* framing of the GOP has been an excellent turn from just focusing on the danger they represent. Cuz, these freaks aren’t just dangerous, they’re fucking weirdo creeps who want to track women’s pregnancies and make them stay in abusive marriages “for the children”.
Indeed, and the conservative media are trying so hard to tie her to the 2020 cycle where she was out of alignment with what the electorate was seeking is not going so well.
She is the right candidate at the right time, and she is perfectly positioned to flummox the bronzed hippo.
She needs to do like 60 Minutes or …? (IDK what other shows are actually watched by independent voters lol) and tell America about her stance on those super left 2020 views. Say something along the lines of how she’s grown in office and realizes after seeing things from the inside that her positions are now more nuanced and, with any luck, they’ll give her a minute to explain where she stands NOW. I don’t think she’ll ever veer too far away to make her less palatable to the base. And I hope that base Democrats realize that she will HAVE TO PIVOT on some things while on the trail to get elected.
I am going to be heading out in a couple weeks to a swing state (TBD wherever they need me) to knock on doors for however long they need me to do so. The benefit of retirement. 🤪 (if anyone has the time or inclination, there’s an organizing meeting on 8/13 @ 8PM EDT to “donate a week to democracy”. Info and sign up here: https://www.mobilize.us/ptp/event/649543/ ).
I agree, also, I think that the overly online far left who hate her (the prosecutor thing) will spit the dummy, but they aren’t a large enough of a cohort to matter.
The one thing I worry about is the Israel/Gaza issue, but she is savvy enough to have solid consultants to help her navigate that box-canyon.
WASHINGTON—Hani Almadhoun had no plans to vote for President Biden this year after his brother was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.
Almadhoun said that Biden, who has supported Israel and sent U.S. weapons toward its war effort, has “blood on his hands.” Now, with Vice President Kamala Harris expected to replace Biden as the Democratic nominee, Almadhoun isn’t only ready to cast his ballot for her; he is prepared to help get out the vote for her campaign.
“She has centered Palestinian voices,” said Almadhoun, a Palestinian-American who spoke to Harris about the war by phone in November and received a personal condolence letter from her following his brother’s death. “She has talked about Palestinian suffering, casualties and spoken about this situation on a more human level.”
Few issues have proved as divisive for the Democratic Party this election season as the Israel-Hamas war. Pro-Palestinian advocates took note of Harris’s early emphasis on humanitarian concerns in Gaza. Now that Biden has stepped aside, the advocates say they are closely watching Harris to see if she will distance herself from the president’s Gaza policy and lay out a vision of her own.
Biden’s staunch backing of Israel, despite concerns over high civilian casualties and a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, had imperiled his re-election campaign amid backlash from Democratic constituencies such as progressives, Muslim and Arab-Americans, young voters and Black voters. Some White House and campaign aides privately voiced concern in recent months that voters disillusioned with the war would sit out or vote for a third-party candidate, putting battleground states such as Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania at risk.
“I think it is necessary for her to set herself apart from Biden and to break with him on this issue,” said Lily Greenberg Call, a former Biden political appointee at the Interior Department who in May became the first Jewish American to resign from the administration over its Gaza policy. Greenberg Call also was a field organizer for Harris’s 2020 presidential campaign. “Not only are there morally correct things that she can do…but I also think it’s the politically savvy thing for her to do.”
Behind the scenes, Harris has been a forceful and early advocate for a cease-fire and for putting more pressure on Israel over humanitarian conditions in Gaza, according to some administration officials. She has expressed particular concern, in both public and private, about the widespread starvation that has gripped the enclave.
A majority of Americans have been broadly supportive of the Israeli offensive following the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel. But some polls have shown that growing numbers of Americans, namely Democrats and independents, have begun to disapprove of Israel’s military action in Gaza. Younger Democrats have been consistently more likely to sympathize with Palestinians and question U.S. support for Israel.
Current and former administration officials suggested Harris could assert some independence from Biden’s approach, but they don’t expect her to split significantly with the president in public. Although Harris has expressed more reservations about the scale of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, she has also continued to back Israel’s right to self-defense and thus far stopped short of signaling support for conditioning U.S. aid to its longtime ally.
In a speech in March, Harris became the first official from the Biden administration to publicly call for a cease-fire. She cited reports of Palestinians “eating leaves or animal feed, women giving birth to malnourished babies with little or no medical care, and children dying from malnutrition and dehydration.”
“The Israeli government must do more to significantly increase the flow of aid. No excuses,” she said.
Such comments haven’t gone unnoticed by pro-Palestinian groups who have long felt Biden has struggled to show empathy for civilians in Gaza or speak more vividly about their conditions.
“There is a recognition that we’re in a better place vis-à-vis the Democratic nominee,” said Wa’el Alzayat, the CEO of Emgage, a group focused on turning out Muslim voters. “But there are folks saying, how different will she be? There are legitimate calls for caution to see how Harris moves forward.”
On Thursday, Harris met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After the meeting, Harris said she has an unwavering commitment to Israel’s right to defend itself, but how that is done matters. “Let’s get the deal done so we can get a cease-fire to end the war,” she said. “Let’s bring the hostages home, and let’s provide much-needed relief to the Palestinian people.”
Harris in a statement rebuked what she referred to as “unpatriotic” protests surrounding Netanyahu’s visit. Photos from the scene of demonstrations outside Washington’s Union Station showed graffiti with phrases such as “Hamas is comin’.”
“I condemn any individuals associating with the brutal terrorist organization Hamas, which has vowed to annihilate the State of Israel and kill Jews,” Harris said.
Harris has strong ties to the Jewish community. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, is Jewish and has played a major role in the administration’s efforts to combat antisemitism.
Since the start of the war, protests have erupted in major cities and on college campuses calling for a cease-fire and an end to U.S. military aid to Israel.
Organizers say demonstrations are still planned at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month, where Harris is poised to formally accept the party’s nomination. Harris, like Biden, has routinely been interrupted by pro-Palestinian activists at public events since the start of the war, and organizers say such disruptions are expected to continue to maintain pressure on the administration.
“The imperative is to change U.S. policy,” said Sandra Tamari, executive director of the Adalah Justice Project.
Pro-Gaza Democrats are also quickly turning attention to her selection of a running mate.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is a vocal supporter of Israel and top contender to serve alongside Harris on the ticket. That has prompted concern among some activists because Shapiro, who is Jewish, was critical of pro-Palestinian student protests and backed a bill that would block state appropriations to any college that divests from Israel.
Manuel Bonder, a spokesman for Shapiro, said the governor “has been forceful in speaking out against hate in whatever form—including antisemitism and Islamophobia.”
He said, “Governor Shapiro—who enjoys a close personal relationship with Muslim-American, Arab-American, Palestinian Christian, and Jewish community leaders—has brought people together, listened, and worked with them to try and keep our communities safe and heard.”
Pro-Palestinian organizers also took note when Sen. Mark Kelly (D., Ariz.), another possible VP pick, reportedly applauded Netanyahu’s use of the phrase “Iran’s useful idiots” to describe pro-Palestinian protesters in his speech before Congress.
Asked for comment, Kelly’s office pointed to remarks the senator made after the speech, in which he said Netanyahu spoke to “a lot of things that many Americans are feeling” but also said it was important to recognize the high number of civilian casualties in Gaza.
“Every Palestinian in Gaza is not a member of Hamas,” Kelly said.
Harris has faced attacks from Republicans who say she hasn’t sufficiently stood up for Israel. Some pro-Israel officials and political operatives questioned whether Harris would have the same commitment to the state as Biden.
Sam Lauter, a San Francisco-based lobbyist who sits on the board of the advocacy group Democratic Majority for Israel, said that Harris employed different rhetoric than Biden but supported the administration’s actions since the Oct. 7 attacks.
“Some words will come out of her mouth that some people who don’t know her in the pro-Israel community might get nervous about,” he said. “I ask those people to take a breath and really look at what she’s said and what she’s doing.”
Yw! It’s not my normal read, but the WSJ offered me a deal for $1.99/mo. I get crazy rate offers from all these outlets because they think I’m in the industry. lol. Apparently there is some creepy person out there selling data about the myriad of things I read. Creepy. But hey, they like to send me incredible subscription deals as a result. And I am a sucker for a bargain. 🤣
Her statement after meeting with Bibi will *hopefully* help with that. She did a pretty masterful needle threading in her response. 🤞 it is enough for the *yuufs* (as my Dem consultant friend calls the kids).
I also think that she needs to make the never Trump contingent aware of her foreign policy chops. Those people will never agree with us on domestic policy, so that’s how we are going to need to draw them in. She’s done a lot regarding Ukraine, her stint as *border czar* was actually an assignment to meet with people from those countries to figure out and solve the root causes of why people think where they live sucks so bad they have to come here. This should all come out if there is a debate, but if Donny continues to decline to participate, she’ll need another vehicle. I think it all comes back to 60 Minutes.
Well said. A week ago I posted here not sure about Kamala. Boy was I wrong too. I am glad I was wrong. The prosecutor vs the felon, yes yes yes!
“Flensed” is such a perfect term. The knives are out… finally, and they look to have serious edges on them.

Yeah, that is super awesome, I am going to need surgery to remove that grin from my face.
A beautifully accurate and concise summary; thank you! 💙💙💙

Somehow we managed to forego the circular firing squad.
Two things:
1) While I may be repeating myself here: Fuck every Never Trumper who thought they could "manspeak" to Democrats about how to do any-fucking-thing. They helped create the MAGA Frankenstein Monster.
2) I know this will never happen, but just sit back and envision the GOP reaction were Kamala to name Rick Wilson as her VP choice. Someone should float that idea out there just to fuck with Trump.
MAGA would Lose. Their. Shit.

I expect to be in tears for the whole glorious goddamned thing!
Maybe Taylor Swift does a quick jam?
Some enterprising person ought to make "Cat" pins for lapels.
I interpret the DEI label as she Definitely Earned It.
Gonna steal that!
Go for it!
I like your interpretation!
Thank you

Speaking of Palestine and voter reaction…
From the WSJ
“Pro-Gaza Activists Size Up Kamala Harris”

Geoff Anderson: Thank you for that wonderful double-entendre -- "Peter Thiel’s ball-washer JD Vance."
What a thought -- Is THAT what Orange-Repulsive needs Vance for?!
HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!!! LOL!! OMG, Thank you for a GREAT image!
Yeah, watching SciFi schlock on a Saturday afternoon and lazily drafting posts leads to colorful descriptors.
Geoff Anderson: This post is very good writing!
