Favorite of the blog, Gamazda is back with another stellar transcription to the piano, this time taking on Chop Suey. Tasty!

Time to strap in, as this one is wild.

The 1990's were a weird time. The grunge scene was a Gen X phenomenon, akin to the Punk of the 70's, and frankly, I never got into it, because it seemed to me mostly vibes, and less technical prowess. (Yeah, I said it, they really weren't great at their instruments).

System of a Down, or SOAD emerged in 1994, and straddled. The musicality and the chops were head and shoulders above the garage band/Grunge/Seattle sound norm, it was a stepping stone to new-metal that took off in the 2000's[1], and their anthem, the song that everyone refers to is "Chop Suey".

But today, I am here to talk about a pianist I have shared before, Gamazda, who has a million fans on Youtube, and likely a similar offline following. Her specialty is to transcribe iconic rock tunes to piano, and play them with a panache that is just exquisite.
