I am referring to the fact that if (as an author) don't have your Substack connected to Stripe, and taking payments, then the powers that be limit the reach and visibility of your substack.
Thus, if I wanted to juice my subscribers (free) I would be wise to set up paid subscriptions, and then the Substack algorithms would put my posts in front of more eyeballs, scoring more read, more free subscribers, and some (2-3%) would "pay", and thus allow Hamish and Chris to sweep 10% of the take into their grubby hands.
Because I keep it free, and refuse to connect to Stripe, and set up paid subscriptions, I am a drain on their resources, and thus they are incentivized to lower my visibility and reach.
I can counter that if more people subscribe, like, and share. Hence my exhortation to help my poor algorithmic de-prioritization by subscribing to my always free substack.
Of course, I could turn on paid, and gain the algorithmic enhancement to traffic that would entail. But Then I would have this piddly revenue stream that would mess up my already complicated tax returns.
I gotta come back and watch later. I know you had Boyle up before and he’s great. Did want to say that I can’t imagine 3 people that deserve each other more than MTG, Musk and Ramaswamy. Why do stooges come in 3s?
Pretty sure it won’t be long before they get tired of Congress ignoring them and they’ll go away. Saw this at Salon right after your post. I love “meme-level of understanding!”
Algorithmic Hell? I pay for the substacks that I want read on a daily basis. So.
I will add that I am grateful that you are here and read me. Thank you!

Definitely not worth the headache.
Good stuff here with actual facts. https://youtu.be/crObFWq_b8I?si=iDAUG2KGZd5-9irC
I shudder to think how much of a bonus Donny Convict will give to his new BFF if and when his supposed cuts are successful!
Has anyone here used Delete Me? I am interested but I would like to hear if it cost effective.
I loved this! Not only was it very informative but Boyle’s droll sense of humor has me hooked. Trolling Elmo was the highlight.
He has banana art 🤣🤣
No chuckle. Just anxiety.
