And thus it was so, I am back in Management
It eventually catches up to you, might as well embrace it.
I was reading a killer piece in Slate that The Rick Wilson mentioned in his Friday Brief post on Substack (the Friday posts are paid only, and it is worth the $$$ to get it) about now that the 20 year NDA that the producers of The Apprentice were held to, they are now free to unleash, and holee sheeit, there is plenty of what you expected there to be. Read it here.
Then I got a ping from my work IM, that I needed to approve some staff transfers. Turns out that I will have three souls under my care (and a fourth who will be joining us shortly.
Uh, I am just an IC1, and I have fought long and hard to remain under the line.
And like that I am now among the (lowest tier of) management class.
Ok, to be honest I sorta had been doing the work for years, so I guess it is time to climb on the cart.
Also, next week is our big event, and tomorrow I will be headed to my least favorite place on the planet, Las Vegas, to spend way too much time standing in our booth, talking to hundreds of people, and probably get sick (covid or whatever). Oh boy.
Wish me and my formerly good work-life balance luck!
Individual Contributor, aka NOT management
Oh my. I’m flying under the radar and still trying to avoid being sucked back into the great maw of management. I feel your pain. Bless and good luck
Best of Luck to you! You got it.
