HGotW: Tim Walberg, R-Douchebagastan
Inaugural installment of a new series, "Human Garbage of the Week". Today we skewer a Michigan Republican who said something so awful, he was a natural pick.
If you’ve been living under a rock, you might be unaware that the young’uns are pretty pissed about Biden supporting Israel and blaming him for the woes of the Gazan’s. Look, this is not an easy thing, many of these protestors haven’t really seen the heinous reality of what Hamas did on October 7, and the difficulty of a measured response in the chaos that is (and frankly has been from long before that fateful date.)
And Binyamin Netanyahu is a really fucking terrible politician.
But there is a cohort who will either sit out the election, or maybe even pull the lever for Trump in the fall because as far as they are concerned, Biden is no different than Trump on this1.
I honestly believe that if Trump is elected, he will tell Bibi directly that he can nuke the strip into a glass surfaced parking lot2.
This is all the undercurrent and the flaws in the far-left progressive stance.
Then, someone on the right opens their piehole and utters something completely bat-shit crazy.
Meet Tim Walberg
As you might be aware about the nanosecond Congress passed their “Minibus” bill to avoid shutting down the government last Friday they all got on airplanes home for their “Easter3” break.
And oftentimes congressional members will schedule community townhall events, to get them some “face time” with their constituents. Tim hosted one of these townhall events, and it went about as you expected:
“Why are we spending our money to build a port for them?” someone asks in the video.
Walberg, who is not seen in the video, responds by saying that the United States “shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid” and then references the two Japanese cities where the United States dropped atomic bombs during World War II.
“It should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick,” Walberg said.

Yeah, he just insinuated that we (or Israel) should just wipe Gaza and the Palestinians off the face of the earth.
Not content with arguing for nuclear Armageddon in Gaza, he also hinted the same for Ukraine and Russia:
According to audio of Walberg’s response, provided to The Washington Post by Walberg’s office, after the congressman said “Get it over quick,” he added, “The same should be in Ukraine.”
“Defeat [Russian President Vladimir] Putin quick,” Walberg continued. “Instead [of] 80 percent in Ukraine being used for humanitarian purposes, it should be 80 to 100 percent to wipe out Russia — if that’s what we want to do.”
Yeah, this sounds like a good fucking idea. NOT!
Look, Michigan has a very large population of Arab Americans, and they have sent Arab Americans to Congress. And this really pisses off the Right. Like a LOT.
But if you are an elected Republican in Michigan, you really ought to be a bit more culturally aware.
This week, Tim Walberg is Human Garbage for his saying we should encourage the use of nuclear weapons in the tinderbox that is the mid-east.
Don’t ‘at’ me on this. I have had this discussion with some Gen Z coworkers, and many more than one has said this, out loud, in person, to my face. Yes, they seem to think that Trump would be no worse.
Seriously, the pasty one, Jared Kushner has been giving presentation on how he would like to build some luxury condos on the newly razed coastline. Seriously, someone should sit him the fuck down.
I have to point out that Easter is a “holiday” coopted by the early Catholic church to bring pagans into the fold. Easter is a fertility rite related to the deity “Ishtar”. But, then again, we think that Christ was born on December 25th. Uh, did someone check his birth certificate? Yeah, didn’t think so.
My spouse and I are in Sedona since 2012, both retired IT professionals,, managing some STR's for ourselves and a couple of part-time resident friends, with 10 years prior living in Scottsdale/Phoenix, and many years with other spouses and families in southeast Michigan before that. Yes, Chandler and Gilbert are still strip mall hellscapes. LOL
A long time ago, far, far away when I was a Bush/Cheney Republican, right after 9/11 I recall having a microsecond of thought that "we should turn Afghanistan to glass; that country is ungovernable", but then I realized that: 1) most of the hijackers were Saudi's, 2) it would probably start WWIII, and 3) the endless religion-fueled tribalism of the region is such that you whack one mole; another just pops up in their place. Not to worry, though, by 2008, I was a Democrat with vestigial knee-jerk military solution tendencies, which I have continued to process through.
Now, back to Tim Walberg, agreed he's terrible, but then how does one select which R is the worst in any given week? They keep out-Trump-ing one another. You've taken on a tough responsibility!
Now, finally, I love your SubStack title. "Sweaty Spice" makes me grin whenever I see it, even if we're bashing GOP/MAGA morons. Thanks!
