πππ I am not a fan nor use LinkedIn but your accurate description of their spam emails make it sound like Tom from MySpace is behind the site!
Shout it loud from the rafters--so annoying. One dude on LI even tried to hook me up with a threesome (him and his wife.) Tried to entice me by saying they would, and I quote, "Dress me up."
EeeewwwEEeweewee! *walks in a circle shaking it off*
two decades there, not a one (good job). Essentially, it was my company's website, as it must be for others. I advertised our services, posted articles on my profession, and promoted what I wanted to promote. It just seemed a "cost of doing business" with no return, that's all. Silly, really.
I would not know, after 20 years of paying for Premium LinkedIn, I was thrown off for being a cartoon character all of those years. https://youtu.be/LqFdNBAvaoU That vid explains in real-time. techBros Must Die! (tm)
For years, I had a picture or me on a stage at a party, jamming with this totally wasted dude, as my avatar image and I was warned by many "recruiters" that this was a bad thing.
My main beef with them is that they have gone far beyond their core product in an attempt to increase engagement, and to fuel unbridled growth they have gone full social media. The "feed" they copped from Facebook is full of just bullshit. And if you dive into the comments? Hoo-boy, there is a lot of political chaos, and more than a few MAGA folks being really annoying.
And, it has led to recruiters being completely lazy. My titles for 25+ years has been "Product Manager", and it seems like every 18 months or so, I get a query for a "Production Manager" position (usually at a food processing company) from a recruiter. Clearly, they interpreted "product" as "production", without looking at any of my background.
Oh yes, I'll even make more videos if someone would watch them, especially Ryan Roslansky's C-level team, I would make a dozen today! But long story short, it's always been a scam, never worked as promised, and is a total breakage of the way recruitment used to work. One has to ask, what are the improvements? As someone who has known the profession of HR well, since it was birthed anew in modern times, I gotta tell ya, the techBros moved fast and broke that into bits, for sure.
Please do rant on as long as you want. The only reason I'm on LI is a career coach insisted it was the key to me getting the job of my dreams. All it's done is bring me loads of spam and increased my anxiety.
Right--and they do not try to police it. I have received the same job offer from "different" scam overseas companies for months. They need to do something to ferret that stuff out, especially if you are Premium.
And in the end, u pay a premium, and you lose as a sucker. Sorry, I have to be blunt after being a paid user since day one. I wasted about 6K USD over the years. Does not sound like much, but just add up all the other techBro subs you are subbed into. Now we could be talking about one year's salary over a 20-year career.

Wow. Unimaginable but so foreseeable. Well I hope u consider being off that platform a badge of honor as I do.
I need to get off of it--but I am still chasing that carrot on a stick like a fool, thinking it might land me one good job someday...

Indeed, it really hasn't garnered real prospects--mostly spammers. Hope, like death springs eternal.

No, I can rant for hours on LinkedIn bullshit.
