What if ... It's all an act
Walking my dog yesterday, I had a thought that perhaps Trump is trying for the insanity defense as an escape from Jack Smith
Whilst walking my pooch, listening to podcasts, as is my custom, I had a thought.
For background, I am (or was) a voracious consumer of true crime media, and I remember a case of a Mafia Don who attempted to escape prosecution for his racketeering and other crimes, he pretended to be insane.
What if Trump, now realizing that he is looking likely to lose the election, and thus his ability to skirt the legal reckoning that Jack Smith is rapidly preparing to unleash on the Tangerine Rhino, perhaps Trump is trying the Vincente Gigante’s strategy?
I mean, think about the very visible dissemblance that we are watching in Trump1. The “weave”? Repeatedly bringing up Hannibal Lector? Reminding the attendees at a rally to be sure to vote on January 5th? Hell, giving up after just a couple of questions in a controlled town hall in front of friendly fans to just do the white-boy overbite for 39 minutes just listening to his moldering Spotify playlist?
I mean, if I was trying to convince people I was insane, this would be the starter kit.
Perhaps this is his master plan?
But then I wake the fuck up and realize that whilst this might be a path for him to evade prosecution, there is no fucking way that Trump’s evil ego would let him be perceived as insane or deviant. He really is a 6’3”, 280#, diaper-wearing black hole of ego. And that ego will not tolerate people thinking he’s bats in the belfry off his rocking horse.
And would that defense work to get him out of prosecution? It would mean that he would be confined to an asylum. An asylum like he uses Hannibal Lector as an object lesson2 regarding immigration.
Thus, I can’t believe that he’ll follow the Oddfather, shambling around:
An old man wandering around in his pajamas, a bathrobe, and a ratty pair of house slippers muttering nonsense to nobody in particular is a fairly typical sight in New York City, but Vincent Gigante was anything but typical.
His ego will not allow this. Alas, the shambolic performances that baffle the mind are just who he is, and he’s going to continue his freefall into dementia.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a solid 47% of the electorate who are just fine with this.
Narrator’s note: When Chris Cilizza argued vociferously in early summer that Trump hadn’t changed or gotten worse from 2015, or even 2020. Get the fuck outta here Cilizza! That is why I abandoned my sub, giving up 5 months of remaining to get his stack out of my feed
I should add that as far as I can tell, Trump has no understanding of the concept of political asylum, the policy that enables the humanitarian parole of immigrants while their claims for asylum. It is almost like he’s stupid or something.
I have been saying for months that one of two things will happen:
1. He loses the election and his lawyers move to have him declared “non compis mentís” and unable to participate in his own defense, thus escaping prosecution for his multitude of crimes, or
2. He “wins” the election and he is 25A’d by Vance in February 2025 and subsequently pardoned for any federal crimes by the new prez.
Wel, he does not understand humanitarian anything, on principle.
Predator's principle. Other people having rights or dignity does not appeal to him. Not sure he even conprehends that idea.
