Saturday, June 13: The final installment of the Glorious Garbage traipse down the unique cinema that came out between the 1950's and the mid 1970's:

Lost in Translation: Spaghetti Westerns, Kung Fu Pictures, and the Beautiful Chaos of the Grindhouse Import
Grindhouse meets foreign production, and the imports were born. I remember my father taking me to see the karate/samurai movies at Camera One in San Jose. Good times.

This time, we looked at the Spaghetti westerns (A favorite of mine), Kung Fu pictures, and the miscellaneous Grind House imports. Glorious all around! Next up will be a summary, and a final post on where to find all this trashy cinema

Monday, June 15: The 5th and final installment in how Tech resisted the organized labor trends, and why now that AI is poised to fuck them, it is too late to build in any protections:

Übermensch in a Cubicle Farm Pt 5: The Reckoning
Bringing it to a close, what are the chances of the tech industry unionizing? It’s possible, but it will be more difficult than if it happened in the 80’s and 90’s

Tuesday, June 16th: The one thing I have heard over and over as a left leaning Democrat is that demographics were going to shift the tide against the racism and grievances of the Republican party. Hell, I even remember reading Ruy Texiera writing about this in the early 'aughts. Total bullshit:

The Generational Replacement Myth
Series: The Boys Are Not Alright — And Nobody’s Fixing It, Part 1 - Looking at why the generational demographic shift is a challenge

Wednesday, June 17th: This was a two-fer day. The details of the MOU to end the Iran war became known, and holy shit, it is ugly. I had to quickly dash something off:

The Art of the Deferral: Trump’s Iran “Deal” and the Pattern He Can’t Quit
Trump’s Iran deal: photo op in Geneva, enrichment program in Tehran, blame pre-loaded onto Vance. The only thing missing is a Phase 2.

The second post, is the follow-on to the Generational Replacement Myth, how starting in the 1970's the mantra of "College for all" that accelerated in the 90's and with the NCLB program of Dubya:

The College-For-All Catastrophe
Series: The Boys Are Not Alright — And Nobody’s Fixing It, Part 2 - College isn’t really for everybody, but somehow that became the mantra.

Thursday, June 18th: The third post that really lays out the hypocrisy in the merit and equality and how the elites are fomenting this fracus:

Unable, Unwilling, or Just Playing a Rigged Game?
Series: The Boys Are Not Alright — And Nobody’s Fixing It, Part 3

Friday, June 19th: Another two-fer day. First, Ross Douthat hosted JD Vance to talk about ostensibly his new book, "Communion" and well, when to lothesome individuals sit down to talk, they need to be ridiculed:

Performed Piety, Practiced Bullshit - Douthat v. Vance
JD Vance converted to Catholicism five years into his marriage to a woman who hasn’t. Ross Douthat interviewed him about his faith and forgot to notice. Here’s what legitimacy laundering looks like.

Second on the menu, The Atlantic had an article that was well sourced and researched on why the "dave democracy" message doesn't work (like at all) in rural America, and how attempts to "reach" these voters are futile. Naturally, I had thoughts:

The Wrong Voters (or why Rural voters are unreachable)
Thirty years of Real American outreach has produced one durable result: a very comfortable living for the people doing the outreach.

I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I enjoyed writing them!
